DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT
Account and data deletion
Request permanent deletion of your Local Expats Bali account and all associated personal data. You can start this from inside the app or by emailing us — both reach the same team.
1. BEFORE YOU START — CANCEL AN ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP
If your membership is still billing, cancel it first so you are not charged again:
- Open the app, go to Account, then Manage Subscription, and cancel there
- If you bought your membership through the App Store, cancel it in your Apple subscription settings
Once it is cancelled we can close the account.
We ask for this because closing an account while a subscription is live would leave you being charged for a membership you can no longer access.
2. HOW TO REQUEST DELETION
Option 1 — In the App
Go to Settings, then Delete Account, then Request Deletion. This opens a pre-filled email to our team.
Option 2 — By Email
Email weare@localexpatsbali.com from the address on your account with the subject "Account deletion request".
We confirm by email once your account has been deleted.
3. WHAT IS DELETED
When we close your account we permanently delete:
- Your profile: name, email address, phone number and profile photo
- Your membership record and billing status
- Any identity or residency documents you uploaded
- Your event registrations
- Your saved payment cards and virtual card details
- Your push notification tokens and notification history and preferences
- Your referral earnings records and digital wallet passes
4. WHAT WE KEEP, AND WHY
A small amount of data is kept for legal and accounting reasons, with your personal details removed from it:
- Events you organised stay published, with your name removed from them
- Referral records are kept for financial audit, with your identity removed
- Discount redemptions are kept as anonymous counts
- Your payment and invoice history is retained by our payment provider Stripe, as required for tax and accounting. Your subscription is cancelled and no further payments are taken.
- Your email address remains on our mailing list marked as cancelled until you unsubscribe. Ask us in your deletion request and we will remove it at the same time.
